Seeds of Love: An Eggs-cellent Gift for Moms

I recently discovered a fabulous little shop in my neighborhood called Sprout Home, stocking an incredibly unique variety of plants, furniture, decorations and gift ideas for the home and garden. Typically "home and garden" shops conjure up thoughts of cement-molded cherubs and wilting geraniums, but this place does an amazing job marrying the sleek, modern styles of urban life with, well...plants and other cool stuff.

Speaking of cool stuff, as I was browsing their website (I was actually searching for a kitchen herb garden kit, but thats for another day), I came across an adorable gift idea: Egglings are white cereamic "eggs" designed for sowing seeds. Each Eggling is filled with herb or flower seeds sown into a fortified peat mixture. Just crack the top, water and watch the seeds "hatch" before your eyes!
Extremely popular in Japan where they were designed (and you thought the iPhone was cool), these adorable little orbs would make a fantastic Mother's Day gift. If your mom loves to cook as much as mine does, imagine how much she would appreciate a basil or mint Eggling -- and each time she uses it, she'll be reminded of her own little "eggling" (you!...get it?).

The Egglings are adorable! I might need to stop by and pick some up for my apartment. Too cute!
