My FIANCE....Has anybody seen my FIANCE??

Let me preface by saying that I have no actual tip, recipe or homemaking hints to share in this post...so shame on me. But this is a wedding-related conundrum, so I don't feel too far off topic.

I was just having a conversation with someone and realized that I used the word "Fiance" at least 3 times...in one conversation. Couple that with the fact that I refer to JiT as my "fiance" pretty regularly in my posting and I'm starting to feel very sheepish.

Like many people, the word itself bugs me...its always sounded sort of haughty and unecessary...there was an entire Seinfeld parody for goodness sake. Yet, I can't seem to get away from it....on several occasions, JiT has specifically corrected himself when introducing me to people..."this is my girlfriend.....I mean my fiance!" So, to say "boyfriend" at this point seems like an insult.

I'll sometimes use "my betrothed," but that doesn't seem much better. I really wish there were another term: The Groom? HIT (husband in training)? Ring Bearer?

Can anyone else relate to this? Any suggestions for other terms?
And, for those of you who have to listen to me....apologies for the overuse ; )

I use to think it was so weird when I used the word 'fiance'. I agree that at times it can sound haughty(even though it shouldn't, you're going to marry him for goodness sake!).

I don't have any real advice, just be happy when it gets to the point when you can say "this is my husband..." :)

I just came across this funny 'response' to a question and thought it pertained to this post about the word fiance.

(Its the second Sedaritive)

Stephanie: thats pretty funny...although I can't fault anyone for managing to weave "joie de vivre" into a sentence...
