Wedding Invitation Preview

Before I go any further, I want to give a big thank you to all of the new commentors (and old friends too) who threw their name into the ring for the big giveaway. I am absolutely overwhelmed by all the new friends. Welcome and thanks for stopping by!

Honestly, I had no idea what I was getting into with the giveaway post....I figured we'd need a whole week to get enough comments to make things interesting, so I was incredibly surprised to have 30 comments by last Sunday. Oh my! Anyway, I'll be choosing our random winner this weekend and make the announcement on Monday.

In the meanwhile, a drumroll please......

You're looking at my wedding invitation folks. What do you think?

Personally, I'm quite thrilled with them. We wanted something that struck a nice balance between whimsical/playful and formal/traditional. JT developed the initial concept, playing off of the "r" and "j" in our names, and our friend and invitation savior Amy did the rest. Actually, I have to give Amy a little plug here -- her day job is production managment at an advertising agency (JiT and I worked with her when we met), but her true passion is stationery. Someday she hopes to own her own letterpress and open a stationery design studio. For now, she moonlights...designing and coordinating printing of wedding stationery for friends. Her design assistance and print expertise have been a lifesaver...and I won't even tell you about the price. Lets just say, we're under budget for something for once. So, if you're ever in need...shoot Amy and email.

While we're on the topic of the wedding (again), I wanted to give a little apology to all my blog friends. I know my appearances in your comments have been scarce lately...and my own posts have been pretty dismal as well. As thrilled as I am about the wedding, with 64 days to go, its really starting to take over my life. Every second I'm not working at my "real" job, I'm working on the wedding. Time for intricate weeknight dinners has evaporated and idle cupcake-fueled Saturdays are a thing of memory for now.

So apologies to my foodie friends. Over the next couple of months I hope you'll bear with me through a barrage of posts on invitations and wedding favors and lord only knows what else. Whenever I can, I promise to get in some food (we DO still need to eat afterall), its just going to be a little infrequent. But bear with me and I promise I'll be back in full-on Homemaker-mode come April.

Thanks in advance for your patience and your comments -- they really do make my day sometimes!!!

That is a beautiful invitation. I did something similar, making a logo out of our initials and then fading it out a lot to make a background. Wish I had one to show you. But yours is special. I think it's so much nicer than the generic out-of-the-catalog ones. Congratulations

I love how non-traditional your invitations are ... and the fact they reflect something personal about the bride & groom makes them that much more special. Nice job, my dear. And Garfield Park Conservatory? Love that place!
