Guest post: Wedding Recap Part One

Greetings everyone! My name is Jessica (aka Bayjb) and I write for Everyday Adventures.

Our lovely, newlywed author asked me to guest blog for her while she's gone. So what should we talk about? Uh the wedding maybe? Okay! Let's go!

As you know, my lovely friend Rebecca is now a married woman and I was so fortunate to be invited to her wedding Saturday night. And in true RC fashion, it was a beautiful occasion, blue shoes and all. Unseasonably cool temps and rain wouldn't stop the celebration and merriment and everyone had an amazing time.

A few of us will be posting wedding recaps here, while she and JiT are in St. Lucia (jealous!), so for my post, I wanted to share a photo I took at the wedding and tell you why a) it makes me laugh and b) captures Rebecca completely.

I love this picture because it shows the Rebecca I know and adore. She's fun, carefree and always smiling (beer optional.)

I've known Rebecca for more than two years and let's just say, when we first met, we were a little oil/water. We're very similar and think the other can be a little neurotic/ridiculous about some things. She thinks I'm crazy for my candy sneaking tendencies at the movies and I think she's crazy for some of her June Cleaver-like tendencies. So we're like the Odd Couple, but we make it work. And I'm so glad I could share in her special day.

The food was amazing (as expected!) Appetizers included mini pot pies, caprese skewers and battered shrimp and the main dish was incredible too. Perfectly cooked spiced chicken with vegetables, chilled pea soup with bacon wafer. NUM. And of course, why pick one cake when you could have six mini wedding cakes? The mango and strawberry shortcake were my favorites. So moist and perfect to devour.

Everything from food, to decor, to place settings was perfect and had Rebecca's touches all over. And of course, she was absolutely beautiful and flowing (see above picture again for proof.)

Oh and an example of one of her "touches" is the most creative dinner placecard/don't-touch-my-drink cards ever. EVER.

Thanks Rebecca for keeping me safe from roofies at your wedding :) You are always looking out for me!

And we're going to "hug it out" when you get back. Be ready!

Done and Done

Its been a crazy week (in addition to the wedding, there's been a funeral, credit card theft, sick family members, 3 parking tickets, torrential rains and one very, very late shuttle bus), but I'm happy to say that the dress has been worn, the vows have been pledged and the rings are on.
JiT and I are exhausted but blissed today as we pack for honeymoon.

Photos are JUST starting to roll in, and the first above is thanks to my lovee TKTC. She and Bayjb from Everyday Adventures have already provided a preview on their Flickr feeds here and here. The ladies have graciously agreed to mind the place while I'm off on the beach for a bit, so there may be some additional updates to come.

Thanks to all for your kind words and well-wishes over the last few weeks. I'm glad to know each of you virtually or really and look forward to sharing some new recipes when I return!

Love Rebecca A (thats a change, eh!?)

My Blue Shoes

So, I'm interested to hear folks' opinions on this:

I've chosen to wear colored shoes on my wedding day. Instead of traditional white, my shoes will be blue. I love the little hint of color peeking out from under my dress when I walk, the richness of my shoes in their aqua shade (the color shows up sort of green and dark in this pic. Its from my mom's cell phone, so apologies for that), and the fact that they can serve as my "something blue."

That said, I've noticed that folks have a pretty severe reaction when I mention that my wedding day shoes will be blue. I showed the shoes to my super-styley hair & makeup artist (who is also my brother-in-law's sister, if you can follow that), and she literally squealed with delight. At the other end of the spectrum, when I told my own sister about the shoes (a lover of all things cream, beige or tan), she was silent for so long I thought the phone went dead. When she finally spoke again, she muttered something to the effect of "Oookay, its your wedding I guess???".

I'm assuming these reactions have all to do with folks' personal sense of style...mine is colorful and quirky. My sister's is classic and traditional. But I do wonder about the general consensus.

What do you guys think? Would you wear colored shoe's on your wedding day or go white all the way? Or do you have something completely different in mind alltogether (perhaps you'll be barefoot on the beach, wearing rain galoshes, or sneakers under the dress?).

Incidentally, this is my last week at the office before the wedding (I took the week before off). I'm hoping I might fit SOME cooking in prior to the big day, so perhaps there will be one last pre-wedding post next week.

If not, I wish everyone well and look forward to reconnecting in April!

Its my party...

Hopefully I'll be a little more pulled together for my wedding...

My parents came across this photo while pulling some pics for our rehearsal dinner decorations. It just seemed too appropriate not to share. I never did like store-bought frosting...

Sadly, no new recipes to share right now. Although JiT and I are still eating, we just haven't had much time for trying anything new or taking pics. The wedding is 18 days away, followed by 7 blissful days in St. Lucia. But I'm planning to be back in full culinary mode by April 11th.

Meanwhile, let the teasing begin (and, yes, you're in on my secret...up until age 25, I was a BECKY)!
