A Homemaker's Habitat is the story of my life as lived through my heart and my tummy. When I started this blog, my life looked a whole lot different. My fiance and I lived in a chic loft in downtown Chicago. I had a frantic paced, amazingly fun career at a world-renowned PR firm, several dozen pairs of high-heeled shes and a not-so-secret goal to be the ultimate homemaker: a craft goddess, wonderful party hostess, and a gourmet cook. And I absolutely loved food. Artisan food. Local food. Farmers markets, fine cheeses, delicious wines. Amazing restaurants, incredible take out. That was my world and it was amazing.
Over the last few years, life has evolved. First, my husband Jon (we'll call him JiT) and I got married. Then we got a little french bulldog named Zoey. I even went to culinary school at Kendall College and graduated as a certified personal chef.
Our beautiful daughter, Lillian Rose, was born on June 26 2011.
Then my husband's company transferred us back to Chicagoland (which we were VERY happy about). We bought a 101 year old house in Oak Park, Illinois and we absolutely adore it here.
Yes, life looks a lot different these days. Along the way, I figured out that this homemaker gig is a lot harder than its cracked up to be...but it still tastes pretty good. We have our share of ups and downs. Sometimes its funny, sometimes its not. Its usually far from perfect (and the food photography kinda sucks now). Even so, I hope you'll join me on this journey. I have no idea where it will take us next.
I'm always excited to meet new people, talk about food, blogging, partnership opportunities and freelance work. If you'd like to chat (preferably over coffee and a sweet treat), drop me a line at rebeccaandexler at gmail dot com.
