After seven years as primary caregiver, its time to figure out my next move.
Its been awhile since I’ve shared a personal update and, now that the kids are back in school, my self-imposed annual summer social media break is over and I’m about one year into therapy, now seems like a particularly good time to check in. First off, I’d like to say thank you to all of you who have supported me here and on social media, shared my recipes and recommended the site to your friends. Thanks to all of you, I surpassed 1,000 Instagram followers a few weeks ago and am hoping to hit that number soon on Pinterest. Its take a ton of hard work for me to get there and I really appreciate all of your support.
Our family experienced some great milestones in the offline world as well recently. The kids have reached what I’m going to start referring to as the parenting sweet spot. Old enough to leave diapers behind and make themselves breakfast but not yet so old that they’re embarrassed to hold my hand. Its amazing to see them blossom into independent little people and also incredibly freeing to the them make their own toast at 6am on Saturdays. š
Our family had an incredible summer — Jon and I were able to spend an epic week in Europe for both business and pleasure, the kids and I went on tons of little adventures together and for once, I scheduled enough childcare to actually maintain my professional goals and responsibilities (enrolling them in steady summer camp was a REVELATION). AndĀ thanks to nearly a year of therapy, reading about the important of mindfulness in motherhood, and lots of time spent with my YogaGlo app, I’m finally learning to appreciate self-care.
This fall, I suddenly find myself at a bit of a crossroads.Ā Max just started 5-day preschool and, for the first time in seven years, I’m on my own 5 mornings a week. While its still a far-cry from full-time, I am both excited and nervous to have the time needed to grow my business. But first I need to figure out what that business is exactly.
That’s where you come in: If you’re reading this, you probably know me as a blogger who shares family-friendly recipes and tips. I’m also a culinary consultant for major food and housewares brands — I develop recipes, work as a food stylist and television spokesperson for all sorts of cool companies. Sometimes I even get to partner with my husband on cool food photography projects. Ā I’ve been a contributor for the lifestyle website The Inspired Home since it launched back in 2014.
I love all of those things and hope that with this additional time, I’ll be able to do more of it and do it better. But I’m also starting to think bigger. To think what else? What do you want to see from me? What’s BIG THINGS do I want to accomplish?
Would you like to see a monthly Homemaker’s Habitat newsletter with weekly meal plan suggestions and seasonal activities? A hard copy cookbook? More weeknight recipes? Crafts? Tips? Life updates? Tell me what serves you most and what you’d like from me. Help me figure out whats next!Ā
