Monster Mash Party and Craft Ideas
The countdown to Halloween is ON and our family is excited to celebrate together. While my husband still loves a good scary movie marathon, over the years we’ve learned that the spooky stuff can scare all the fun out of the night for our kiddos. Instead of frights and tricks, this year we’re focusing on the TREATS with a not-so-spooky Monster Mash Party and Candy Craft Ideas.
Candy-Inspired Decor
Scary (and sometimes downright gory) Halloween decor can take the fun out of the night for little kids, so to make this party extra fun, I created a brightly-colored Monster Mash theme inspired by some of our favorite candies. We received Ferrara’s Trickster Treats candy mix bag which includes brightly colored SweeTARTS, Laffy Taffy, Gobstoppers and Spree Candy. Then we rounded out our decor by creating googly-eyed monsters in the same bright colors using paper plates and plastic eyes.
Next, we created a Monster Mash-inspired Halloween candy buffet, filling the jars with more candy from the Trickster Treats mix, then adding more googly eyes to the jars for a monster effect.
We even used the SweeTARTS and some eyeball candies to transform store-bought cupcakes into fun googly-eyed Monster treats!
Monster Mash Candy Craft
Of course, no Halloween party is complete without an activity and this adorable Monster Mash candy craft is my new all-time favorite because it incorporates the kids’ trick or treat candy! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Colorful paper plates
- Adhesive backed Googly eyes
- Black markers
- Scotch tape
- Trick or Treat candy like the Trickster Treats candy mix including SweeTARTS, Laffy Taffy, Gobstoppers and Spree Candy
Simply lay out the paper plates, googly eyes, markers and tape and let the kids create their monster’s face. Then add arms and legs by taping pieces of candy to the paper plate bodies! All of the candies in the Trickster Treats bags are so brightly colored, they really help make this craft pop (plus, the kids really cracked themselves up reading all of the jokes printed on the Laffy Taffy wrappers while they worked).
With 425 pieces in just one Trickster Treats bag, we had more than enough candy for all of the decor, cupcakes and crafts featured at this party. In fact, we STILL have some of the candy leftover to hand out to trick or treaters on Halloween night, but I’ll probably stock up on another Trickster Treats bag anyway—because there’s nothing scarier on Halloween than running out of candy!
